What Are @Mentions in Notebird?

@Mentions allow you to notify a specific team member when you need their attention on an Update, Task, or Comment.

Instead of sending a separate email or message, you can mention a teammate directly in Notebird and keep the conversation connected to the care activity.

You can think of @Mentions as a way to bring the right person into the conversation when their input or follow-up is needed.

Why @Mentions Matter

@Mentions help your organization:

  • Get the right team member's attention

  • Communicate directly around an Update, Task, or Comment

  • Keep conversations connected to the people you care for

  • Reduce separate emails and messages

  • Make follow-up easier for your team

  • Help prevent important information from being overlooked

Instead of wondering whether someone saw an important Update or Comment, you can mention them directly.

Why @Mentions Are Important for Long-Term Care

Caring for people is a team effort.

Sometimes information needs to reach a specific person quickly. @Mentions make it easier to bring the right team member into the conversation without moving the discussion outside of Notebird.

By keeping the communication connected to the Update, Task, or Comment, your team can maintain better context and continuity of care.

How @Mentions Work

@Mentions can be used in Updates, Tasks, and Comments to bring a specific team member into a conversation.

When you mention someone, they are notified according to their notification preferences.

This allows your team to communicate around the care of a person while keeping the conversation connected to the original Update or Task.

Examples of @Mentions

Organizations can use @Mentions in many different ways, including:

  • Asking a pastor to follow up with someone

  • Letting a team member know about an important care Update

  • Asking for additional information about a Task

  • Bringing another staff member into a conversation

  • Alerting someone to an important attachment or detail

  • Coordinating follow-up between team members

For example, you might write:

@Michael, see the attachment! It's important that you do!

Michael will receive a notification according to his notification preferences.

How to @Mention Someone

Adding an @Mention to an Update, Task, or Comment is simple.

  1. Open an Update or Task, or create a new one.

  2. Click in the text area where you want to add your message.

  3. Type @.

  4. Begin typing the team member's name.

  5. Select the team member from the list.

  6. Finish writing your Update, Task, or Comment.

  7. Save the Update or Task, or click Add Comment.

The team member you mentioned will receive a notification according to their notification preferences.

How to @Mention Someone in a Comment

You can also @mention a team member when commenting on an Update or Task.

  1. Open the Update or Task.

  2. Click Add a Comment.

  3. Type @.

  4. Begin typing the team member's name.

  5. Select the team member you want to mention.

  6. Finish your Comment.

  7. Click Add Comment.

The Comment remains connected to the original Update or Task, while the team member receives a notification about the mention.

@Mentions and Tasks

@Mentions can also be used when communicating around Tasks.

For example, a team member may add a Comment to a Task and mention another team member who needs to provide information or help with the follow-up.

This keeps the communication connected to the Task instead of moving the conversation to another system.

@Mentions and Notifications

@Mentions are connected directly to Notebird's Direct Notifications.

When someone mentions you in a Comment, Task, or Update, Notebird can notify you through your Inbox and email, depending on your notification preferences.

This helps make sure important conversations reach the people who need to see them.
