These categories help you filter and view people in Notebird in a way that matches how your organization tracks participation.
Where Membership Types Are Used
Membership Types appear primarily on the People page. They allow you to quickly filter your list based on membership status so you can focus on the groups and individuals you care about most.
Common uses include:
Viewing only Members, Visitors, or Attenders
Creating customized lists for follow-up
Organizing care efforts based on engagement levels
Why Membership Types Matter
Using Membership Types alongside Groups, Update Types, and Milestones gives your organization a detailed and clear picture of the people you serve. These categories make it easier to track engagement, follow up consistently, and ensure no one falls through the cracks.
Filtering People by Membership Type
You can filter your People list at any time to see only the membership category you want.
How to Filter by Membership Type
Navigate to the People page.
On the left-hand sidebar, click All membership types.
Select one membership category to filter your list.
Your People list will instantly update to show only users within that selected type.
This makes it easy to narrow your view. You can choose a single membership type. Such as Visitor, Member, or Regular Attender to organize and focus your list.
Managing Membership Types
You can view and manage your membership categories from the Customizations page.
How to Add or Edit Membership Types
Go to Your Name at the top Right Corner.
Click Customizations
Click Membership types.
View your existing types or click Add membership type to create a new one.
Edit the name of any custom membership type as needed.
For Planning Center Users
If your Notebird account is synced with Planning Center, your membership types are automatically brought over from PCO. (See full instructions here: Planning Center Sync: Syncing Only Selected Membership Types)
Note: System-generated types synced from Planning Center may be locked and cannot be renamed.
Seeing Membership Types After a Sync
If you do not see Membership Type filtering options, you may need to run a manual resync.
Note: After resyncing from Planning Center, the options to filter by Membership Types will appear if they were recently added or modified in PCO.
To resync:
Go to Profile Picture at the Top Right > Integrations > Planning Center.
Click Resync from Planning Center. (See full instructions here: Planning Center Sync: Syncing Only Selected Membership Types)
